Great concept, poor realisation
I needed to connect four devices on my guitar FX pedal board via MIDI. Space was at a premium, and I wanted all the power, audio and MIDI cabling to be tidily out of sight underneath the board.
I thought I'd found the perfect solution when I came across these right-angled MIDI connectors - with very flat profile plugs enabling the cable to drop straight down from the devices, taking up no valuable space.
I would have thought this sort of application was exactly what this product was intended for.
In which case, why on Earth have the pins been put at exactly the angle that renders the product useless for this purpose?!
MIDI ports on devices are always closely grouped. The five pin holes are always at the bottom or top of the port. The pins on this product are placed such that the flat section of the plug lies parallel to the device, rather than perpendicular. This inevitably means that it lies across, and blocks, the adjacent MIDI port.
This is a fundamental design flaw, in my opinion - I really can't see a use for this product in its current format.
The product is well-made, but if you need to use more than one MIDI port on your device, give this one a swerve.

Major design flaw with these things. Cannot stack two together (MIDI In & Out) and can't use it on my pedalboard between my digital MIDI enabled pedals. What a total waste of money. Highly disappointed!!!!

Good quality, flat cable. Look closely at the cable angle!
All in all, it's quite a great cable. Flat and unobtrusive, and can potentially help you save a lot of space. The only downside (and this is a significant one for me) is one that I didn't notice when first ordering them:
When plugged into most MIDI keyboards, the cable itself is angled 90 degrees left or right, not up or down. This means that if you have any other jacks or plugs immediately to the left or right of your MIDI ports, they will potentially be rendered unusable by this cable.
If you have plenty of space to the left and right of your MIDI ports, this shouldn't be an issue for you.
If Rockboard could make other versions of this with the cables angled differently, I would be much more likely to buy more.

Good idea but not very universal use case
It would be great if Rockboard would have a variation of this cable with different angles on the connector - otherwise it depends on a specific arrangement of your gear and you need to make sure your gear has midi ports angled in the best angle for these cables to fit well and not cover other ports or stick out. The connectors do not bend easily so it is futile to simply bend them into the correct angle.

Fiixed orientation, not so usable.
The fixed orientation makes these cables less usable. You gain in space, but for some pedals they are unusable.

Unsuitable for Strymon’s
I bought these (at various lengths) to link my Strymon pedals with my Boss ES-5 switcher, but found the tips unsuitable as they face horizontally.
Otherwise they seem to be a good quality product.

Probably an excellent midi cable but be aware of suitablitiy.
Please note that this cable is not compatible with connecting BOSS RV500 and DD500 as the flat connector will block the power connection on one of the Boss units. So unless you are using AA-battieries to power the Boss units the cable will not fit. I am sure there could be potentially problems with connecting also other products.

Works a charm but watch the angles
Works great with my pedal board. Just double check the angles of the connector are okay for your setup.

Great, high quality MIDI cables that SMALL and easy to adjust
I spent a lot of hours reseaching midi cables for my new pedal board, I bought a switcher and wanted to control a Line 6 M5 and an EVH 5153 50 watt via midi. after buying and testing a few midi cables, I realised that the head of the midi cables dont fit the Templeaudio Board and most midi cables have the same problem. I was adamant that the midi cables must go underneath the board and connect via a midi thru device to various instruments - as I needed to future proof my set-up.
The Rockboard midi cables were exactly what I was looking for. the head of the midi cable can easily fit the small holes on the Templeaudio board, most likely any bent-aluminum style board.
Although the midi connections are not adjustable, ala those very hard to solder and easy to snap Switchcraft midi plugs, the cable itself is very bendy and flexes easily to fit an set up :)
