Swissonic Webcam 2 Full-HD AF

Very happy with the camera so far, bought it, upon delivery took it out of the box, plugged in the usb cable & used it for zoom.
First web cam so no prior experience to compare it with any others. Only used it for video conferencing so far, the video on screen looks good better than using my phone camera for conferencing anyway and I quite like the autofocus.

The camera sits simply on top of the monitor, there's a small piece that hooks over the front of the screen (approx 9mm H x 47mm W) with a folding suport leg down the back. The camera sits quite still & hasn't fallen off once. The support leg on the back can also fold back under the camera allowing it to sit on a flat surface if required. The centre of the camera lens is 30mm higher than the top of the monitor when in place, this isn't a problem as there is a swivel unit allowing the camera to be focused above and below the horizontal and also turned left and right. The 60 degree field of view allows easily 2 people to sit side by side at a normal typing distance from the screen, haven't tried 3 people.

The cable remains attached to the camera when unplugged. Initially I thought whoa that cable's too short but at 1.65m as measured it comfortably reaches the base unit on the floor from the desk. There's a blue light on the front of the camera that shows when it's on, there's also a very handy small privacy slider to cover the camera lens and a 1/4" thread too. If there is one fault it's that on this camera the privacy slider covers say about 99.9% of the lens. When the camera is on and the privacy slider closed on one side of the user window there are two very small areas still recording, one at the top and one at the bottom of the user window each one maybe about the same area of say a postage stamp. This means the camera still tries to auto focus a little when the privacy slider is closed. Think maybe just a one-off error (almost imperceptible bend in the slider) rather than a design fault.
Weight of camera & cable: 150gms.

Pro's: Ease of setup, Camera swivel, Auto focus, Indicator light, Privacy cover.
Cons: Privacy cover not quite totally perfect.

I got this webcam hoping that it be at least a bit better than the build in webcam of my Dell desktop screen. This is however very much not the case though, since it completely oversaturates if you have anything more than a candle for lighting.

It basically has too exposure settings: dark beyond sight and brighter than the surface of the sun. There are no controls for changing stuff like brightness or exposure, because why would there be? Who wouldn't like to look on their webcam to be one huge white blur with eyes?

I know it's available and not that expensive, but you're literally better off having no cam whatsoever. This is absolute and utter garbage and should be treated as such.

Really good camera. It stands perfectly still on the 4 monitors I tried. There is a good autofocus, the image quality is good, the camera handles well low light environments. The mask to slide on top of the camera is a mechanical shutter, which is perfect. My only complain is that there is no switch to turn off the microphone. Since I do not need it, I simply opened the camera and unplugged the microphone (which voids the warranty, don't do it if you are not sure about it). By the way, I think it is a stereo mic, if this is important to you.
