Yamaha FP9500D Bass Drum Pedal

I am an improving beginner and am using my sons cheap drum kit. Obvious to me even at this stage was a lack of control with the original pedal. Straight out of the box this pedal has transformed the control I have on the bass drum. I haven't adjusted anything yet, but having had a good look at the pedal, all adjustments are easy to access and easy to change. The direct drive is such an improvement for me and I feel immediate feedback from the pedal and this results in better control even for a beginner. It is a sturdy pedal and is made with good quality. Very smooth. It is a little heavy but comes with a carry bag for when the need to move your kit around to gigs. All in all very pleased with the purchase, good value for money and excellent delivery speed from Thomann as usual.

I'm no stranger to direct drive pedals and I am impressed with the feel of this one. It's very smooth and extremely responsive. I like a loose tension and on this pedal I can slacken off the spring a lot, which is good for me.
The downside is the cheap/weak construction. I have a pedal from Drum-Tec (their own brand) priced at £60 and the construction is much better/stronger. I'm not sure how long the pedal will last, I'm slightly worried about the footplate breaking off where the direct drive linkage connects. It doesn't look that strong.
Marks out of 10. I would say feel under foot and responsiveness a 9.
Construction. I would say a 3.
Pros: Smooth, fast and very responsive. Good bass drum beater and carry case supplied.
Cons: Construction not great. No drum key. No toe stop. No beater weight.
Final word on price. I think it's an overpriced pedal that Yamaha should recommend being in the £100 to £120 category.

After several gigs, I have found the pedal to be extremely smooth, fast and light, like its glued to my foot. I am very impressed, it has held up to some rigorous gigs. The beater could do with being slightly heavier (only slightly) but apart from that I am very satisfied.

Eines vorweg, natürlich sind solche Beurteilungen sehr subjektiv, was für den Einen perfekt funktioniert ist für Andere im schlimmsten Fall unspielbar...ok, ich versuchs trotzdem ;-) In all den Jahren haben sich bei mir einige Pedale angesammelt (Tama Iron Cobra, DW 5000, Sonor Giant Step, Sonor Jojo Mayer, Yamaha DFP9415D (Vorgänger der 9500D), DFP9500D). Von all diesen Pedalen ist für mich die 9500D von Yamaha mit großem Abstand das beste Pedal! Warum? Ich bevorzuge eine relativ schwach gespannte Feder mit großem Beaterabstand zum Fell. Bei Tama und Sonor und DW ist das fast unmöglich, entweder fängt die Feder an zu schlackern (Sorry für die Wortwahl, die Feder ist dann nicht mehr richtig unter Spannung, und fällt fast aus der Aufnahme) oder die Cam schlägt bei größerem Beaterwinkel gegen die Rahmenverstärkung (Sonor Giant Step erste Generation). Den Unterschied zum Sonor "Perfekt Balance" konnte ich deutlich spüren als selbiges sich beim Auftritt trotz mehrmaligen nachjustierens der Spannreifenklemmung immer wieder von selbst zusammenklappte (kein schönes Gefühl). Zum Glück hatte ich ein 9500D Doppelpedal als Ersatz dabei. Das Yamaha ist für mich das leichgängiste, direkteste und am entspanntesten zu spielende Pedal, im direkten Vergleich zum Sonor Perfect Balance Pedal empfand ich die Yamaha als wesentlich leichtgänginger und ausgewogener, man spürt das Pedal beim spielen kaum.
Ein weiterer Pluspunkt ist der Beater. Bei den meisten Pedalen ist die Seite mit der Kunstoffschlagfläche wesentlich schwerer als die Filzseite, d.h. dreht man den Beater rum um mehr Attack und Lautstärke zu bekommen ändert sich das Spielgefühl drastisch (ganz schlimm bei DW Beatern). Durch die spezielle Konstuktion des Yamaha Beater ist das Spielgefühl beider Seiten nahezu gleich. Also, nicht von Namen wie Iron Cobra, Speed Cobra, Falcon, Eliminator, Demon Drive, Perfect sonstwas,... blenden lassen!

Wenn Ihr ein neues Pedal braucht, auf jeden Fall die Yamaha Teile antesten!!! Zudem ist der Preis mehr als fair!!!
