Cool and versatile
I bought this pickup to replace a single-coil pickup in the neck position of a guitar for a thicker sound.
The pickup did the job brilliantly, but I was also able to utilise the four-conductor cable to install a coil split, enabling me to get more sounds out of the guitar.
The pickup is top quality and manufactured well. As it has the dimensions of a standard humbucker pickup, it could potentially be fitted to a variety of guitars.
Sound-wise, it’s excellent. The pickup sounds great with my guitar’s original 250k pots, but is also used to brilliant effect with 500k pots when fitted as standard in many Gibson guitars.
This pickup could work in many different guitars and suit guitarists from a wide range of styles and genres.

Beautiful sounding neck pickup
I replaced the neck pickup in my HB Fusion-II with this and it gave the guitar a whole new spirit. It sounds clear and dynamic while getting a nice warm jazzy tone when you roll back the tone a little bit. Installation required a bit of woodwork because the guitar was routed for short-leg direct-mount pickups while the Gibson pickup has long legs for mounting with a pickup ring but that is no fault of the pickup.
I love the combination of clarity and smoothness that this pickup delivers and I recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade the stock pickups in their guitar and I imagine it would work especially well on Epiphones.

Great Gibson sound
This pickup has gone into my Epiphone Les Paul and it has transformed the instrument for me. I enjoyed playing the Epiphone, great feel on the neck, stays in tune, beautiful finish. But now the sound of the instrument has come alive, having much more 'presence' than before, and clarity. I recommend this pickup highly!

Tone and price
It might seem muddy at the beginning but it's not really that. It's just big and warm. I chose this one because of the possibility to wire it in parallel, single-coil and series. It does the job. It has balls to push your amp. nice

490R CC Humbucker Pickup
The 490R CC Humbucker Pickup is a neck pick up that goes really well with the rockier spectrum of music, after getting them and opening them up the quality of these pups was obvious - sturdy, well built and trust worthy, i wouldn't expect anything less from a Gibson product! They were easy to fit, fell straight into place on my Epiphone Firebird, plugged it in and turned it up and the result was astounding! the beautiful warm cleans and thick dirty distorted sounds that were ringing out of my previously dull Firebird blew me away, it sounded like a completely new guitar worth far more than its original cost, if your looking to upgrade your pups to find a great 'gibsonesk' sound then look no further, these are really, really great pick ups!

I bought two of these, one covered and one open for a left handed replica of the Jimmy Page EDS1275 that I am making for a customer. They are exactly what I was looking for for that classic Gibson sound and at a great price here at Thomann.

Amazing pickup
I love this pickup on my Gibson Tribute LP. I decided to install it on my second HB SC450LD guitar. I was not mistaken in the choice, the sound is amazing. This is what I wanted.

Great pickup (s)
I changed the front and back pickup on my 1982 Ibanez ES50. I bought the 498T as well. The guitar has been transformed and I now have the sound I have been looking for. I also replaced the wiring/potentiometers with Gibson parts. Now it's a great guitar! Well worth the fiddle doing the wiring through the f holes. Highly recommended.
