I videos på youtube osv ser denna lilla maskin rätt gullig och kul ut. Dessvärre är den ganska trögspelad, och dessutom finns det ingen koppling mellan att den öppnar och stänger munnen och hur ljudet faktiskt låter. Hade den fungerat som en kontroll av volym, eller åtminstone en resonans-förstärkning hade det fyllt en funktion. Som det är nu är det bara en sämre stylophonekopia, med ett något ekivokt utseende.

Extremely fun instrument, very good value!

The Otamatone is a fun instrument to have laying around in your house. For its price there is nothing major to complain about. It has a good range and I use it to train my ears a little bit when figuring out songs since I've never played an instrument that allows for a free range of micropitches.

The only minor complaint is the responsiveness of the playing. Sometimes I would describe it as buggy. But it is understandable, and if you want to take this seriously, there is the deluxe version which seems to handle the responsiveness a lot better.

This version is more of a toy. If you are expecting a "real" instrument, you will be disappointed.

It's silly. And stupid. And fun. It's a novelty thing, and if you see it for what it is, it's great. It will get you laughs if you try doing covers of famous songs.

I got one to try it out.
The sound is worse than I imagined, and while this is part of the charm, it is a bit rough on the ears.

This small variant has the notes far too close together, especially on the second part of the instrument neck, so it is quite difficult to play.
I would have likely preferred fewer notes with nore space between them.
About 2.5 octaves range - a single octave would have been more playable.

The neck of the instrument has some flex and feels like it will snap as I try to use it. The strip on which you play also takes significantly more pressure to play than expected.
