I used the Ernie Ball earthwood 0.12 string on my acoustic guitar and I thought to get the Not-Even-Slinky on my electric.
I played at the begining in standard E and it was such a mistake, the string were giving big tension on the neck so I got some fissures on it. I gave the guitar to a master to be repaired, and after that decided to go down. I played drop C, but the tension was also big, after that I went to drop A and this is the best tuning for these strings, they're feeling like some Regular Slinkys in the standard E, but the tone they give is so beefy and angry. The clean tones also pleased me, as they're still bright and can give some "glass" type of clean sound, with a good guitar and amp, of course.

Bought these for my son to use on his Hollow Body, a little to much for me, but my son loves 'em, and honestly they do have a beautiful full tone.

I needed strings for bringing my guitar to a Drop C tuning. My first try were the Earnie Ball "not even slinky" strings. I am playing Earnie Ball Strings on all my guitars so i was looking forward for a great tone. However I was not as satisfied as usual. The strings maybe are a bit too thick for a Drop C (I had to adjust the neck after putting the strings on!). Furthermore the strings were hardly fitting in the nut. After setting the neck i tried some dry playing. Sounded okay to me. Some playing through my amp was sounding better. There the sound has a lot of bass und was really punchy. Except one thing: The G String. All the other strings sound good, but the G String is really sounding poor. The string is only swinging for two or three seconds. Maybe it is because the string is a (thick) 24 plain string. If you play chords it is not really conspicious. But if you play single notes it is really annoying. Does not matter if played with amp or without, the G String is really crappy. Concerning the other strings i think this is not more than a three star rating.

Optimal for Eb tuning, I use ıt for fingerstyle jazz and enjoy plain G.

Great strings I've been using ernie ball for years, I just like the colors on the packaging :D This set in particular is for a C standard tuned guitar, tension is good, nothing unusual about it, feels right. They last about a month before the high strings getting a bit stiff and gritty unless you have some string cleaner!

Dull sounding strings

The strings are durable but I find that the sound is incredibly dull, even when compared with other stringsets of a similarly thick gauge. Additionally the g-string is weirdly thick compared to the rest of the set and does not sound great. Tuning stability is fine though and they are quite durable.

Have been using these and other Ernie Ball strings for years. I primarily use the Not So Slinky strings on my Chapman ML3 tuned to CGCFGC and it sounds fabulous consistently and retains its tuning when I'm really getting into a part and hit the strings a little harder than usual.
I guess it's amazing how over looked strings can be. People harp on about tone woods, tubes, pickups and pedals a lot of the time but strings are massively important and these are part of what I would call my sound. While other brands of string are equally as wonderful, Ernie Balls always take pride of place on my instruments.

I use these on a Fender Dual 6 console steel with 22.5" scale length. They allow me to use a reasonable range of tunings without things getting unbalanced or sloppy feeling. Many people like to put brighter sounding steel wound strings on pedal and console steels but for me these nickel wounds do the job just fine- they are still nice and bright as long as you keep them clean, and they never get too "fierce"

Good, consistent Ernie Ball quality, They last well, don't tend to lose their intonation and develop false harmonics, and keep their tone too.

Or metalheads who tune way down. I ended up changing the low E for a 60, still floppy at drop B and C but otherwise great strings.
