Really well made and thought out - EXQUISITE JAPANESE QUALITY FOR A NICE PRICE
Piotr Nosoff 22.12.2021
The bridge is beautifully made, has nice heft and is very functional - all adjustments are easy and secure, this bridge is a direct replacement on Fender AM Performer P or J bass (and probably on MIM as well), you can change strings really fast (open string "holes") or lead strings through the body.
Tuning is very stable and sustain (remains) looong. The bridge is also very comfortable for your plucking hand (even ends of strings are well hidden within the bridge).
This version has brass saddles and is over 2x the price of the popular Fender hi-mass bridge, but you can get also Gotoh 404SJ with steel saddles (the only difference) for just marginally more - I see more sophisticated, less bulky, lighter and more functional Gotoh bridges as even better options than Fender's one.

Wanted a more aesthetic looking bridge (hiding the end of the strings) for my Fender Jaguar Bass. Only used the holes left by the fender vintage bridge. stringspacing is around 1.5mm - 2mm less than the fender bridge, but can more or less be solved by tilting the outer sadles a bit. i would count that as a negative point, but since its solvable...

Solid bridge

I was in need for a replacement bridge for my Sire V7 bass. I wanted to keep the string-through option, so I decided to try the Gotoh 404BO. I wasn't able to install it without modifications to the body of the bass. The stringoels on the bridge didn't align with the ones on the instrument, but I doubt that this was Gotoh's fault. I was able to fix the issyue by using some epoxy filler and a drill. Now the Sire sounds much more "meatier" and sits much better in the mix when I'm playing with my band. Highly recommended!
