Great for Scottish music, ballads, folk and gospel

As a boy in the 1950s I grew up to the sound of traditional Scottish music played on either "The Box" ( piano accordion ) or the Tremolo Mouth Organ.

That said, as many of my generation did I moved onto playing the electric guitar, the blues harp and later the chromatic harp..but hearing my older cousin playing virtuoso tremolo harmonica in recent years gave me the motivation to learn this instrument.

As with every Thomann order the harmonica arrived on time safely and very well packed.

As a virtual beginner on the tremolo, I was pleased to note that Hohner had elected to engrave numbers above the holes on the top cover which enabled me to play tab and find the notes quickly ( any tab featuring notes between holes 2 and 9 can be played )

There is a learning curve to a tremolo - blow too hard and the notes come out shrill; the instrument benefits from gentle playing and there is no harm to allowing chords to be incorporated into melodies.

This harmonica is capable of producing beautiful music with a fairly "wet" tremolo, particularly on the lower register.

The harmonica itself is well made and mine arrived well tuned with all the notes playing and in tune. The comb is pear wood and as it plays in I expect the notes will mellow out nicely.
