Small desk, big features

The xmix 1202FX USB from the t.mix is a budget-friendly 12-channel mixing desk with features usually only found on larger models, including a digital effects section. Other features include six microphone channels with phantom power, two stereo channels, and a stereo RCA input. The user interface also has a USB port to allow external audio signals to be imported and the stereo sum from the master faders extrapolated. An effects loop is provided that lets the user integrate their favourite external effects, and an AUX signal can be tapped either pre or post-fader. Another remarkable feature at this price point is the master output, which in addition to its two 6.35mm jack sockets also features a duo of XLR sockets. The upper-right corner of the xmix 1202 FX USB's user interface houses a headphone output and a control room output with a shared volume control. Last but not least, this all-in-one solution features an inbuilt power supply and thus requires only an IEC power cable.

Extensive mixing options

The t.mix xmix 1202FX USB's mono channels can process both mic and line-level signals, and its switchable 48V phantom power also allows condenser microphones to be connected. Whatever the source, the switchable low-cut filter will eliminate solid-borne sound and handling noise, while the three-band EQ and pan controls provide extensive scope for mixing. The onboard effects section includes a range of reverbs, delays, and modulation effects with adjustable main parameters, while both stereo channels come equipped with a two-band EQ and balance control. Every channel features a dedicated peak LED and a PFL function to allow the gain level of each signal to be optimally adjusted. The control room output with its duo of 6.35mm jack sockets can be used to connect active PA speakers or studio monitors, and its volume (together with that of the headphone output) can be adjusted independently of the master output. An additional pair of active speakers can be run from the headphone output, and an RCA output is also provided for recording.

For sound engineers of all levels

Despite its combination of extensive connectivity and in-depth mixing options, including filters and digital effects, the t.mix xmix 1202FX USB retains a highly intuitive operating concept thanks to its classic mixing desk layout. More advanced users will in turn benefit from the added creative scope provided by the AUX path and effects loop, including the integration of external effects through to parallel compression. The xmix 1202FX USB thus represents a robust and compact solution for users who can forego an integrated multi-channel audio interface and high-impedance instrument inputs, and thanks to its sturdy metal chassis, it will also capably stand up to the rigours of on-stage use.

About the t.mix

Thomann’s in-house brand “the t.mix” has been an integral brand of its product range since 2000. This brand offers a wide selection of different mixing desks, passive PA systems, and various accessories, proving that quality, reliability, and an attractive price tag can go hand in hand. Whether users require a DJ mixer, a compact mixing desk for the rehearsal room, or a passive PA system for a youth club, the t.mix has a convincing and affordable solution for every application.

For drums, home recording, and bands

Situations involving multiple microphone signals that need to be grouped together, their EQ tweaked, and reverb and other effects added - e.g. when creating a sub-mix for a drum recording - can be tricky, and this is where the t.mix xmix 1202 FX USB comes into its own. It is also an ideal choice for home studio applications in which multiple audio sources have to be merged to create a stereo mix and played back through a range of different monitor speakers. Solo entertainers in turn can also use this mixer to great effect as a central controller for their different instruments and gear, while bands can easily integrate it into their setup by connecting it downstream from the power amp or active PA speakers.
