extremely mellow

Theses bass strings are very mellow, I used to use them on an acoustic bass that I converted to fretless, they were too mellow for that so I later switched to a pair of flatwounds and that worked much better. These strings are not bad by any means, just very mellow and devoid of any brightness. They are not muffled but have reasonably long and deep sustain.

Nice tone - Not so sure about the finish
Redtapir 07.06.2022
In pursuit of a nice warm, mellow "Jazz" tone I tried a set of the GHS tapewounds, which came well reviewed. Once they had settled (after around 10 hours of playing) the tone was actually pretty good and close to what I was after. Warm and smooth but still with enough definition to guard against sounding "wooly". They were a really good fit for the Jazz group I play in.

The only downside for me is the feel of the strings. Like Labella tapewounds, the GHS wraps are a little too plastic like for my taste. As such they feel (to me) cheaper than their tone would suggest. I ended up swapping these for a set of D'addario tapewounds which have a sweet tone and a smoother velvety feel to them.

In short, if you don't mind the feel of these strings I would recommend them for their warm defined tone.
