Gibraltar GTC6DD Single Pedal

I needed to change from Double bass drum pedal to a single due to back injury so wanted a reasonably priced quiet and quick pedal.
I read reviews about direct drive pedals then tried one or two chain and direct drive to compare and decided I would take a chance on direct drive
Very glad I did, this GTC6DD is not the flashiest pedal on the market but it is well made and certainly matches a few more expensive pedals I tried. It is easy to adjust for tension and angle with a decent size footplate and can be used easily if you play either heel up or down. Personally I like a very light beater so this one though not heavy will be swapped with one I already have. The only slightly picky comment I have to make is that the bottom screw for tension adjustment is plastic which may still last the life of the pedal as I'm sure Gibraltar have tested it thoroughly but surely the cost of a metal one is probably 1euro at retail. A drum key is provided in a plastic clip under the footplate and fastening the pedal to the bass drum hoop is easy thanks to the side protruding wing nut. Over all this is a solid pedal and performs very efficiently in my personal opinion and in all honesty I couldn't tell any difference between this and the dearer ones.

War auf der Suche nach einer Fußmaschine mit Direct Drive. Habe mir neben der Gibraltar GTC6DD noch zwei weitere Pedals einer anderen Preisklasse zum Testen besorgt: die Pearl P-3000D Demon und die FP9D von Yamaha – jeweils als Single Pedal. Mein direkter Vergleich lief über drei Proben und eingesetzt habe ich bei allen Pedals meinen bevorzugten Beater.
Die einzige Fußmaschine, die mich wirklich sehr positiv überrascht hat, ist die Gibraltar GTC6DD. Das Spielgefühl war bestens, die Fußarbeit wird sehr schnell, absolut präzise und leichtgängig umgesetzt, auch Nuancen gehen nicht verloren. Für mich die wesentlichen Aspekte einer guten Fußmaschine. Und in dieser Hinsicht ist sie den beiden anderen Pedals mehr als ebenbürtig.
Änderungen an der Einstellung der Fußmaschine können ohne große Mühen umgehend vom Drumseat aus vorgenommen werden.
Klar gibt es Unterschiede in der technischen Umsetzung, der Verarbeitung, der Ausstattung (Pearl und Yamaha liefern z.B. mit Bag) und auch in der Optik, aber das rechtfertigt meines Erachtens nicht diese Preisunterschiede. Die Gibraltar GTC6DD hat z.B. neben zwei Fixierdornen an der Fußplatte auch noch Klettband an der Unterseite – ist also super gegen Vorwärtsbewegungen gerüstet, was man von der Pearl P-3000D Demon nicht gerade behaupten kann, die lediglich mit Klettband ausgestattet ist.
Die Gibraltar GTC6DD ist mein persönlicher Testsieger und im Vergleich zudem preislich unschlagbar, denn sie kostet noch nicht einmal die Hälfte der beiden Vergleichsmodelle – deshalb absolut empfehlenswert.
