As my Lakewood Custom D-32 needed a fret job, I decided to give the new Plek Service a try, and I don't regret it. I checked the details beforehand with the service team and sent them my guitar in a nice big padded parcel. I soon got a notification from Thomann that the instrument had arrived savely, which calmed my nerves quite a bit.
After the fretboard was measured and it was clear that no new frets were needed, the Plek-machine did a wonderful job in levelling the old frets and giving my guitar a wonderful low action and perfect intonation. Playability has also improved compared to the original factory setup. Obviously Thomann have got them a really cool new machine and the people who know how to use it.
Maybe the service is a bit pricey for a new instrument, but if you need a fret job anyway, I would definitely recommend it.
