The foam hollow sphere encloses an air volume around the capsule, similar to a wind protection basket. It fits perfectly for use with the Schoeps MSTC 74 ORTF microphone. You will need two of these in that case. It sits snugly, and if you plan to record outdoors, this is a mandatory addition! Good build quality, easy to install.

Im Schoeps-Hauptkatalog 6 auf Seite 120 sind zwei sehr interessante Tabellen mit den Wirkungen der verschiedenen Windschutze für MK41 und MK2. Da sah ich schon dass der W 5 D schon fast in den Bereich der großen Körbe von Rycote, Cinela und Bubblebee kommt.

Für das Sennheiser MKH 50 habe ich Rycote Baseball und Bubblebee "The Spacer Bubble - Big Mount extra small". Der W 5 D auf dem Schoeps CMC 141 spielt für mich in der gleichen Liga (mehr kann ich angesichts der unterschiedlichen Mikros nicht sagen). Das ist ein grandioses Ergebnis.

Je m'en sers pour percher avec un Neumann KM150 ou un KM184. J'ai du limer le plastique pour permettre le passage d'un micro de plus grand diamètre. Mais cela en valait la peine, le son est plus transparent qu'avec les simple mousses non-évidées
