Bonne sonorité.

Conseillé par un contrebassiste de jazz expérimenté et confirmé ,j ai monté cette corde Sol Pirastro avec un jeu thomastik spirocore médium.Cette corde est de section proche du Ré thomastik et donne une bonne sensation au touché , elle fournit une sonorité chaude, avec une bonne dynamique ,un peu plus grave et plus ample que la corde Sol thomastik. Malgré son coût , je ne regrette pas l'investissement.

Pour moi une des meilleures corde de sol pour contrebasse pour ceux qui sont fatigué du son métallique dans les aigus.

full sound and responsive to touch

I had to try the Oliv G, just to find out about the gut sound on my bass. I am happy with Pirastro Evah Pirazzi strings so far, but the Oliv G has a lovely sound. It is as thick as a D string, but very easy to play. It seems to be responsive and more alive than other strings, although I cannot exactly say why I have this impression. The tone is full and rich, both pizzzicato and arco.

I took the bass to my luthier to attach it, as the grooves had to be widened. I would consider replacing the D string too, as there is a tonal difference between D and G, particularly on arco. It does require regular re-tuning, unlike the nylon strings which stay in tune for a week, but this was not a problem. The construction looks very good so far.

If you can afford the string, (yes, they aren't cheap), then give it a try!

Warm and full sound

Using this G string with Evah Pirazzi on the other strings (D, A, and E) and it complements them perfectly. The sound (both pizz and arco) is full and warm and not as punchy as the Evah Pirazzi G string.

Three drawbacks that I can think of:
1. A bit on the thick side, approximately the size of my D string. However, not an issue for me as my nut was wide enough.
2. Takes a while to settle in tune. Took me about a month to stay in tune. Not a biggie though.
3. A bit pricey, but I guess you get what you pay for.
