The compound is hard and was difficult to apply in sufficient quantity, but once on the cello pegs improved tuning efficiency and stability greatly as was expected.

This works
Yes it works. I have used this on my pegs and it makes them turn easier. Better than the so called peg drops. The drops sometimes makes the peg tighter. The chalk works but doesn't cling as well as this stuff. Handy little metal tube to bring in the violin case.
