Defective item but had great potential

Bad online rumours weren’t too far from the truth (unfortunately). The item I received was defective, the out 1 was extremely quiet and therefore the module couldn’t be used in stereo…What a shame because the module seemed to have a great sonic potential.

Besides the fact that Endorphin.es seems to suffer from serious quality control here is are my immediate feedbacks considering that my unit might also not be so reliable due to the mentioned issue.

Good:

- Comb filter is a great addition
- The FX routing swap is great
- The different levels of distortion/drive too
- Really features packed and versatile!

Bad:

- Downside of so many features per hp, all knobs are really cluttered
- The filter cutoff is quite loose and I presume that in few month it will start wobbling on its own (really bad for a performance case because it could drastically impact the sound)
- Might be my unit, but the filter resonnance decrease the sound volume when used after noon (unusuable for sound design)
- Noise floor but it’s fine since it has so many stages of amps
- Quality control

It’s my first ES module and I have to admit being quite disappointed. Might be my last one. On paper was great, it’s materialisation sucks.

Es lohnt sich ...

Ich war auf der Suche nach einem FX-Modul für mein drum-case mit dem ich so IDM-Breakbeat-mässige Beats fabriziere und bin dann irgendwann durch Youtube auf das Ghost aufmerksam geworden.

Anfangs war ich noch etwas abgeschreckt aufgrund des doch recht hohen Preises, allerdings wurde mir dann irgendwann klar, dass es wohl keine wirkliche Alternative gibt für das was ich suchte (nämlich ein gut klingendes, stark modulierbares Multi-FX-Modul in der Art eines Sugarbytes-Effektrix-VST) und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht !

Die Kombination aus Filter, Compressor, Distortion, Reverb und Delay erweist sich als erstaunlich "mächtig" und man kann seine Drums im Mix sehr gut nach "vorne" holen.

Ich denke ich werde in Zukunft nicht mehr das Bedürfnis haben noch zusätzlich irgendwelche VST-Effekte für meine Drums einzusetzen ;)

Na de update veel verbeterd

Ik heb deze module in eerste instantie enkel gekocht voor een kick 'rumble'. Daar is de Ghost echt goed in.

Toch gaat deze module veel dieper dan dat. De reverb klinkt mooi (al is het geen Starlab), de delay is gemakkelijk te bedienen en clockbaar, en de pre-post vca + distortion geven je alle 'crunch' die je maar wilt. De grote filterknop is speelbaarder dan ik in eerste instantie had verwacht.

Uiteindelijk gebruik ik de Ghost nu als effect op mijn aux/send, en verzorgt deze module niet alleen meer een rumble, maar neemt het ook de 'saus' voor synth lijntjes voor zijn rekening.

Al met al een zeer veelzijdige module die bespeelbaar aanvoelt en klinkt. De ruisproblemen/filter gevoelligheid zijn na de eerste update wat mij betreft opgelost. Natuurlijk kun je in deze module wat ruis horen, maar dat voelt verwaarloosbaar. Je moet gewoon even leren hoe je de pre/post vca hebt ingesteld.

De prijs voelt wat hoog aan voor een module van 16 hp, maar is het totaal waard als je bedenkt dat je er een filter, delay, distortion, reverb en compressor (met sidechain) voor krijgt.
