Much needed upgrade

This is a much needed upgrade for the Schaller strap locks.
I have had several of the old type with the thin locking nut, and they always had a tendency to get loose. Hence, it was always a good thing to have a spanner readily available, as they are hard to tighten my hand.
The new design is much sturdier and well thought out. The nut is much thicker and now made to be tightened by fingers. Besides that, the grub screw locks the nut when in position, securing the locks to your strap.
I have had it for a couple of weeks now and it is amazing. I don't ever foresee any problems with this system.

Provides you the freedom of movement with no worries for safety.

Cons: The locks are a bit longer than the normal points sticking out of your bass. This can be annoying if you like me have a guitar with two points at the bottom, specially designed for resting the guitar without a dedicated stand. (Ibanez, Gary Willis)

The very best straplocks...

Love these, have used them for all my basses since the 80's - they don't seem to wear out. Very happy for the new design as well. I wish you could buy extra sets of the strap button that screws into the bass though - I always need more of those for new basses and I don't always need the "cups" to attach to the straps (I rotate about 10-12 straps through 20+ basses). Also, it would be nice if Schaller could make a "flat" straplock like Dunlop's for the BCR basses I have with strap buttons screwed into the backside of the bass body.

Safe strap lock

Your strap will stay locked when attached, just pull the round end to open again.
When mounting it on your bass/guitar make sure the old strap lock hole isn't too small/tight. To avoid cracking your laquer or paint, drill a tiny tiny bit off the old hole, very gently. Tighten the new screw with a good screwdriver and you are ready to rock.

I use mine with a leather strap and after a few times i had to tighten the mount on the strap, it's been there for 8 months now and is solid in place
