Earthworks Audio M23R

I've purchased this microphone to be able to measure the response of my monitors in order to apply digital room correction. Every other bit of my gear is from Thomann, so it was the natural place to come and purchase this!

You will find mentions online of many other measurement microphones, including the likes of UMIK-1. If you are going to use more specialised software (Acourate, Audiolense, ARC 3 etc.) it is not recommended to use USB microphones, but those that require phantom power and connect straight to your interface.

The microphone came extremely well packaged, in a relatively small box, encased in foam, with a microphone stand holder, but please note it does not have the thread adapter. You're also getting a hand-filled report of the microphone QC test results as well as a card with instructions on how to get its calibration file. On that note, Earthworks were pretty fast with providing one, but do note it's not an automated process, so some form of delay will happen.

There is not much else to mention... You're paying for what is essentially a ruler-flat measurement microphone, built like a tank, that will most likely last a lifetime. It's that simple. :)

Wir nutzen 2x Earthworks M23, um Wasserfälle naturgetreu aufzunehmen. Wasserfälle sind schwierig zu mikrofonieren, weil sie aufbauend auf sehr tiefen Frequenzen pulsierende Obertonreihen erzeugen, die Abnahme mit extrem linearem Frequenzgang voraussetzen. Auch hochwertige Stereopaare wie das AT4022 oder Sennheiser MKH-416- aber auch das Audio Technica BP4025 "verbiegen" den Frequenzgang und zerstören das Frequenz-Spektrogramm. Wir haben jahrelang alle möglichen Mics ausprobiert und sind jetzt mit den Earthworks M23R glücklich geworden. Als Fieldrecorder nutzen wir einen Zoom F6 mit 32 Bit Float und Stereo Setups mit einer Haun OSS Schneider Disk (Jecklin Scheibe), 4m Distanz A/B Mikrofonierung oder ein Decca Tree Setup. Die Resultate sind mit den Earthworks großartig und zum ersten Mal "hören" wir "echte" Wasserfälle in der Postproduction (Virtual Reality Wasserfälle). Für alle Klangpuristen zu empfehlen, die "reinen" Sound und keine Stimm- oder Instrumentoptimierte Artefakte hören wollen. Gemessen linear von 3Hz bis 22.000 Hz.
