Compressor/eq/boost

This pedal does a lot, and if you have a MIDI controller plugged into it it does even more. The modes for the compressor are very useful, so even though you can't control every imaginable parameter, it's very easy to get to the tone you're going for. Eq just works, for my use the frequencies are ok, and even the more extreme settings of the controls are usable. Boost works ok as is, but if you engage the MIDI control, you can sweep the boost with an expression pedal while you play, which gives you huge amount of control while playing.

When using this with something like Morningstar Engineering midi controller it's worthwhile to make a template preset with every controllable thing off, and then switch them on per preset when needed, as there's quite a few midi controllable functions in the pedal.

Einwandfreie integrierte Lösung

Ich wollte hauptsächlich zwei Szenarien abdecken: gelegentlicher Bedarf für einen unaufdringlichen Kompressor und ein schaltbares EQ und Boost Setting für den Wechsel zwischen Humbucker und Single-Coil ohne Gefummel am Amp. Nach längerer Recherche (u.a. Walrus EB-10, Hamstead Zenith, Dry Bell Unit 67, JHS Clover) bin ich eher zufällig auf ein Video zum Bloom gestoßen - das hatte alle gewünschten Features plus MIDI und klang sehr ansprechend. Also riskiert...

Einfach gesagt: ich finde an dem Gerät keinen echten Kritikpunkt (ja, Presets bzw. Steuerung der einzelnen Parameter über MIDI wären ein Mehrwert, habe ich aber bis jetzt nicht wirklich vermisst - der Vorteil ist eindeutig, das die Position der Knöpfe zu jeder Zeit die aktuelle Einstellung wiedergibt).

Ein paar positive Punkte, die vielleicht interessieren:
- Der EQ ist hocheffizient und klingt selbst in extremeren Einstellungen recht natürlich.
- Der Boost klingt hervorragend und färbt nur wenig (leichte Mittenanhebung).
- Der Kompressor pumpt nicht und hat wenig Rauschen (o.k., hinter einer Single-Coil Gitarre und einem Fuzz ist auch hier Rauschen vorhanden, aber das löst wohl kein Kompressor).
- Die Kompressor-Presets sind sehr gut gewählt, ich verwende allerdings nur die ersten vier, die restlichen sind eher für Slide... Die Mischung des komprimierten Signals mit dem Dry-Signal arbeitet hervorragend.
