Good quality Rode capsules

Very positive experience about the sound, which is natural and pleasant. Not matched pair, but I have found no differences between the two capsules, I received. Suites well in nature environment recordings too, whis is my main purpose for these. Only downside is a poor thread inside the one capsule. Hope it will hold well detaching and replacing again and again with other capsules, I use in my NT5's.

Pleasantly surprised by its natural sound

I did a fair amount if investigating about the ideal mic to use for a goodnatyral representative sound for my acoustic guitar. I already had a pair of NT5's. Apart from spending a good deal more on a Neumann or such like, this capsule was reccemendedd by a good studio engineer, and had a few people backing its quality, and as i trust Røde, and have an NT K2 and a NT2a, already I can vouch for their quality.
I Was surprised just how different the sound with the omnidirectional pattern, this is obviously dependent on the room sound, as the mic picks up the sound of the room.
The sound was less nasal then a cardioid pattern, and thus pleased my ears with regards to my guitar sound. I am looking forward to trying it out on other sources.
I would reccomend this to anyone even those with more money to spend, as i feel the quality far outweighs the price, especially if you already have the NT5 mic.

Great omni-capsule

These capsules are great. Very quick to change. They come in a nice little metal box with foam insert to protect the heads when you are not using them on the actual mics.

Ive used these with the NT5 to record orchestras and I am very pleased.

Guter Klang, aber wechselnde Fertigungsqualität

Gleich vorneweg: das grösste Manko sind die fehlenden Seriennummern bei Rode Kapseln. Man kann also nicht mal nachvollziehen, wann die Kapsel gefertigt wurde und dann kann es passieren, dass 2 Kapseln sehr unterschiedlich sind, und sich nicht für AB eignen.

Ich hatte zwei solch unterschiedliche Kapseln erhalten: die eine klang mulmig, die andere eher neutral. Der innere Kontaktstift der Kapsel war auch leicht unterschiedlich ausgeführt, was meinen Verdacht auf verschiedene Produktionszeiträume erhärtete. Der Rode Support hat auf meine Reklamation hin die Kapseln getauscht, und die neuen Kapseln vorher durchgemessen!

Diese beiden Kapseln weisen nur minimalste Unterschiede im Frequenzgang auf - ein echtes Pärchen halt. Die NT45 klingen sehr natürlich, rund und färben kaum, gerade der Bassbereich ist präsent, aber sauber und ohne Mulm. Sobald die Raumakustik es hergibt, benutze ich nun die Kugelkapseln in AB Konfiguration. Gerade bei grösseren Ensembles wie Sinfonieorchester oder sinfonischem Blasorchester bringen die Kugeln eine bessere Ausgewogenheit, die fiese Tricks am EQ nachher überflüssig macht.

Tip an Thomann für ein "Special": vielleicht gibt es auch Kundschaft für eigens ausgemessene NT45 Stereopärchen, die auch etwas mehr kosten dürfen? Vielleicht auch ein Komplettset NT5-MP plus NT45O-MP?

Demnach: trotz Anlaufschwierigkeiten eine absolute Kaufempfehlung. Das Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis stimmt, der Klang ist super, und der Support von Rode über jeden Zweifel erhaben.

Mein Geheimtip für preiswertes Mobile Live Recording: Rode NT5 mit NT45O am Tascam DR-100 - passt in ein kleines Köfferchen und geht fast immer.
