This is an excellent synth with keytar attached

I own also the previous model (AX-Synth), and cannot refrain from comparing these two. The main differences that came straight to mind are, that placement of ports is much better on AX-Edge. AX-Edge loses on SuperNatural tones, and some of the old lead sounds, but gains some monster lead sounds they call "Edge Lead", fat and gnarly, like a monster growling in agony, but still in tune. Also the Edge has so much more preset sounds, and a little more refined UI.

Soundwise most of the sounds are synth sounds, and buried somewhere are also the basics like piano and harpsichord. Unfortunately these sounds are a bit buried, and the categories aren't that helpful. On the bright side, the ability to have banks of quick access to these sounds if set up using the "favourites" can help this, in addition to making gigging a breeze.

The look of the keytar on the other hand is out of this world. It's probably the coolest keyboard instrument ever created. Though as was with AX-Synth, Roland thought that using weird sized straps is a good idea. No strap locks that are for guitar are compatible (actually I haven't found any that are), and eventually the keyboard will fall, probably at the solo, unless you use some custom method of securing the strap.

Also I would've loved to see some 2.4GHz compatibility, as I fear midi over bluetooth might not be reliable (and I'm not going to test that hypothesis at a gig, where it would count), so other wireless methods must be used.

All and all, I feel like this is a great value synth for that niche of gigging keyboardist, who doesn't need to use two hands too often, and wants to trade that for mobility. Running around the stage is so much fun, and with a keytar it's no longer only guitarists privilege.
