Nice little synth

I bought this little synth to add a somewhat eccentric weird lofi sound to my music. I love how much it is easy to use and to achieve interesting sounds. The morph and fm engines are great to create pads and ambient sounds. The attack engine is great for creating that typical 8bit NES games sounds.
On the ergonomics side, the main functions are directly accessible via the knobs (wave types, filter, lfo, envelope attack and release). Unfortunately, some other interesting features must be accessed adding the shift button, like the fx parameters. It can be a bit tricky to play, hold shift and turn knobs at the same time. That's were the arpeggiator and sequencer become handy. Or you might control the device via its midi interface. I don't like this kind of keybed, so being able to control from another keyboard adds much more fun to it. Clock can be synched from midi data, which is a good point too.
The manipulation needed to save a patch or sequence is weird and I can't count the number of times I lost a patch because I couldn't remember the right steps to do it. So read carefully the manual.
In the end, I really like this lofi kind of sound and use it often on my music. It's simple to get a nice sound of it, a unique kind of sound.

pay attention! power supply not regular!

This is an awesome synth very powerful and fun to use when you learn how, ban be a little intimidating at first but once you get the workflow it's amazing for the price! The buttons are a little wiggly but not a deal breaker. **IMPORTANT: It doesn't come with a power supply it needs a 9V+ and it's not a regular size barrel it's the smaller kind, you need a VOLCA power supply to power this unit**

Ne vous laissez pas abuser par l’appellation 8bit, qui pourrait faire croire qu’on est face à une demie-machine. Cette petite boîte, au budget ridicule, est équipée d’un puissant séquenceur polyphonique (128 pas s’il vous plaît) allié à un looper à 4 pistes, avec des effets efficaces (attention au dosage, j’imagine qu’un prochain firmware viendra affiner tout cela).
On se retrouve avec un instrument plein de caractère(s), qui va bien au-delà du Chiptune (mon Minilogue xd ne s’en remet pas) une fois bien maîtrisé.
Très bon synthé, et surtout très fun ! J’ai hâte de découvrir les prochains instruments de chez SonicWare !

..Könnte man meinen, bis man anfängt, auf jeden Schritt im Sequenzer andere Parameter-locks (funktioniert genau so wie bei ELEKTRON-Geräten) zu setzen. So lässt sich der Kiste ein recht breites Spektrum an Klängen, auch fernab von Chiptune, entlocken. Hat meine Erwartungen an ein 220€ Gerät gut übertroffen.

Einziges Manko ist die Bedienung. Fast jeder Knopf hat eine Zweitbelegung, was erstmal weder schlimm noch ausergewöhnlich ist. Das eigenliche Problem ist, dass manche Zweitbelegungen über "func" und andere wiederum über "shift" aktiviert werden und die Zuordnung hier komplett willkürlich erscheint. Das führt immermal dazu, dass man anstatt der Zweitbelegung versehentlich die Hauptfunktion erwischt, weil es eben doch "func" und nicht "shift" war.

Zweiter Kritikpunkt ist, dass es keine Hüllkuve für den Filter gibt. Man kann sie zwar grob mit P-Locks nachahmen, ersetzen kann man sie damit jedoch nicht.

Trotz der Kritik gibt es von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung, weil das Teil einfach Spaß macht und bei jedem mal dran schrauben etwas anderes brauchbares rauskommt. Vorallem bei einem Preis von (derzeit) 220€ kann man echt nicht meckern.
