Control your performance and then some!

I purchased the hb1 some months ago and have had time to get to know this excellent piece of kit a bit better. First off the build quality of this unit far exceeds all expectations, one can tell immediately that the designer and manufacturer really do care about their product. This care and attention does not stop there, I had occasion to contact a member of the team who Skyped me back and gave me a one to one tutorial on the features and possible combinations, yes you can combine presets to interact within the same patch, it used to be two presets, I believe it is now four. Like any new instrument and this is an instrument, there is a learning curve, you put some effort into the technique and one is rewarded with expression not achievable with pedals and mod wheels. Fantastic!

Reliable MIDI breath controller / pristine quality

There was a total madness about MIDI controllers in 80s. Remember guitar synthesizers, keyboard hanging on belts and plastic drums? At that time, wind controllers were invented and the world had forgotten about them. Wrongfully. HornbergResearch released hb1 MIDI Breath Station. It transmits up to 4 independent streams of MIDI CC, each one with fully programable envelope. Really madness. I CAN RECOMEND IT!

The Steinway of Breath Controllers

The HB1 is the best breath controller on the market. The superb wood and metal construction exudes quality and craftsmanship but it's also very easy to set up and use. Designed to fit comfortably around the neck, it allows hands-free access to the unique wooden mouthpiece which makes it feel like playing a traditional wind instrument. The HB1 app is beautifully laid out allowing all useful parameters to be tweaked in real time. The main thing, however, is just how smooth the conversion of breath to midi data is when controlling the dynamics of a software instrument. So much smoother than a modulation wheel or foot controller!
