I’m a professional musician now for almost 30 years. My ears are trained to the point where it gets ridiculous. Tone is everything to me especially in the studio when all details are magnified. As music is my trade, the price doesn’t matter that much. People pay me for being my best self and that includes the best possible strings for an inspiring sound. I tried about every string in the middle, higher and highest segment available, before I settled with the Pyramid Pure Nickel strings for all my electric solid body guitars. It seems with strings it’s the same as with wines. The best wines aren’t always the most expensive ones. With the ‘big name brands’ you also pay for things that have got nothing to to with the actual product.
Anyway, if I have to put my conclusion in just one word it would be: PURE indeed. The sound is just wonderful. It’s round and warm without being dull at all. The harmonic overtones are very rich. It brings out the best in every solid body guitar I put them on. Especially the 0.11- 0.48 make a well balanced set. The strings bend like butter, and they stay in tune remarkably well. And boy do they last!!!! Who needs odd sounding (and feeling) coated strings when you have something like this. I also got much more sustain than most other strings.
These strings feel as if they are a labor of love.
I normally never write reviews. But this time I did out of shameless selfishness. If just enough people (not too many please) are initiated into this little tone secret than I should be safe for the rest of my life.
