A lot of instrument for your money
This uke is a great choice in terms of money to quality ratio. It’s a clean build, with beautiful aesthetics. Sound quality is bright and balanced with moderate sustain. Intonation is consistent all along the fretboard. I don’t love the stock strings, but I don’t hate them either. They sound great when plucked or picked individually, but seem to take some effort to ring out when strummed. I will give them a little time and see what I think after they settle in a bit and I get used to their characteristics. My only complaint is that the tuners feel a little cheap, but I only paid $178 USD, so I don’t want to compare that to a higher priced instrument. I have a Kala uke (that I love) but is more than twice this price with very similar features. My Kala is a great instrument, but this Kai edges it out just a bit in terms of build quality, projection, and sustain. The Kala has nicer tuning machines, but those can easily be changed on the Kai and still remain at a very economic price. I play weekly and have the same crew running sound. The normal gain setting I use needed to be reduced with this instrument because the volume difference was quite significant. The side sound port is an excellent feature that allows the player to hear the sound of the instrument, but doesn’t decrease the sound projecting toward the audience. I’ve never had a ukulele with this feature, but I’m now a fan and will add that to the list of things I look for. Being able to hear yourself more accurately will make you a better player. I can better hear the inconsistencies in my playing and adjust to correct them. You likely won’t find a better instrument in this price range.

Beautiful Uke
Firstly I am a beginner, but this is my 5th uke moving up slowly in quality. This uke for the money is stunning, the build quality and finish is second to none and it plays beautifully too.
Very very happy with my purchase.

Ten out of Ten
Bought this for my teen who wanted a 'real wood' ukulele unlike the one bought when little. This is an excellent instrument. On our example the build and sound is flawless. Minimal tuning required out of the box. No need for any adjustments to string height. It is loud but not brash and some lovely tone can be got from it depending on the player. The gig bag it comes with is also excellent quality with thick foam/polystyrene used for protection. No real need for a hard case unless really necessary. This instrument could be used for public performance without any hesitation. My budding musician is extremely pleased and it is played almost every day.

Not a big problem but, all of the pictures I've seen have perfectly matched wood grain., sadly, mine does not.

Superb instrument.
This is my second ukulele so I wanted to spend a little more money and get something better.
And I've found I just can't put this baby down.
Firstly the build quality is spotless and really beautiful. I love the wooden texture underneath and the inlay work around the sound holes.
The sound quality on this uke is really something special compared to my other one. It's clean, great volume and not too bright. I'm loving the top sound hole which throws some volume up to the player.
The covered metal machine heads feel tough and so far are pretty good at staying in tune and not slipping.
Very useful strap lug at the body end was a must for me.
The padded gig bag included with the purchase was also a deal maker for me. The bags is well made and sturdy with an interior neck pad as well and the zips are big and tough.
One very small (and maybe irrelevant) con is the high gloss finish. My wife's robot hoover did it's rounds unsupervised and knocked my uke off it's stand which left a chip in the gloss finish on the back. But this was totally my fault.
I can't recommend this instrument highly enough and can't believe such sound and build quality comes for such a reasonable price tag.

Crisp and resonant tone
This is the best value Solid Cedar top on the market. I’ve been researching a lot before getting this and after reading the positive reviews on the net everywhere. The side sound port really adds to the loudness and crispness you hear from each string and the cedar gives a full warm tone..
