If you have the money and don't want to wander if your drum is safe during transport you should go an get this case.
Of course Hardcase cases are a bit slippery on the outside. And they are relativly heavy. But that doesn't really matter when dealing with the smaler sizes. Of course they are expensive. But they last for years and years. I have been using several for all my drums for many years now and not one strap broke or got torn off. Even all the snap-locks are still intact. The cases themselves do not show a single sign of fatigue.
From 16" up they are a little unpractical in terms of handling and carrying. But I could always manage that.
Oh, and a 10"x8" Pearl Tom with the old Optimount holder attached to it fits the 10" case perfectly. I was wandering about that before I ordered. But the Optimount is no problem for the case!
I recommend this case!

Very good case. Completely secures the drum, no matter what depth it is as there are adjustable straps. Case is lined with foam strips to protect the drum while transporting. It's completely water proof and have never had any problems with Hardcase products as a whole - I have cases for my entire kit. The cases all store inside one another for easy storage when not in use. The carrying handle is very comfortable to use as well, I've never had any ripped hands.
I highly recommend this product as its very good value and I dont think I'll have to buy another case in my life!

These cases are in my opinion the best cases to protect your drums.
They are built with solid quality, which have never failed to keep my drums safe.

The insides for these cases have good quality foam blocks positioned around the case to keep the drum from any damage while inside.

I think these hard cases are particularly useful to the touring drummer, who packs his drums in a van with lots of other equipment, as these cases not only keep the drums from being scratched but also protects them from being squashed by other heavy pieces of equipment that may be surrounding them in the van.

I was impressed with the self stacking system that has been added to these newer versions of the hard cases. This allows them to safely stack on top of each other, which I found very useful when packing the van.

The handles on these cases have a nice feel to them, making it easy on the hands when walking with them.

Overall I couldn't be happier with these cases, and shall continue to use them.
