Not worth it!

This was my second attempt at purchasing a Didgeridoo supposedly pitched to D. The first one I bought, from a different company, was in Eb and this one was somewhere in between C & C#. It amazes me how these instruments are marketed as professional yet sold more like tourist gifts. Apart from being in the wrong key, it was also poorly made. It felt and sounded (more importantly) like a big heavy lump of tree branch with a hole drilled through it. The walls were too thick which meant that the sound was flat in terms of resonance. A better way of constructing it would be to bake it and fully season/cure the wood, then saw it in half and hollow it out so that an even and thinner bore could be established before gluing the two halves together which would result in a better resonance. Pitching of the intrument could then be achieved by sawing off small increments and testing it until it settled on a note which could be played with a tuned instrument. I must add that this is not the fault of Thomann but of the suppliers who I presume are more interested in rapid production and sales. Thomann were excellent in returning the product when I submitted a video to illustrate the problem and I have to commend them for that. I gave one star total based purely on the quality and value for the money
