Flamma FS22 Delay & Reverb

If you need a reverb/delay combo pedal, which can do what most revers/delays do, but also need something that can do stuff really out of the box, can be an expressive tool, and coincidentally you are on a budget,then you have found the right pedal! The pedal has a distinctive left and a right segment,-which is conveniently drawn on it-this helps to identify which knob controls either the reverb's or the delay's settings. This is due to the compact size, though it does beat way more expensive reverb/delay pedaIs in quality/price value-and also in being more compact-I'm looking at you Strymon BigSky-. It has lots of potential,can be either very crazy experimental, or can be very subtle but even then it still makes your sounds instantly more beautiful! The quality of the sound is really astonishingly beautiful and has THE high fidelity you are looking for, and this is the first pedal which has shimmer reverb,and I don't hate it! (usually I find them sort of lacking in some strange way despite their interesting quirky weird quality). The expressive "freeze/ feedback crazy" function by holding down one of the footswitches, and the trails on/off function is also a very expressive feature and the fact that they included in it is awesome! The LEDs are very nicely and compatly built in closely around the footswitches in a triangular shape,which gives both a tactile- visual feedback experience, and looks nice and futuristic, kinda like out of a spaceship compared to other more typical pedals. Has the standard tap tempo of course, and you can set every parameter as you like, a little bit of knobturn is making the whole unit sound completely different,gives you a wide range of control to temper with, while aslo it does not overwhelm you with too many controls or presets. The algos are also amazing, I like the fact that both traditional and very much-non traditional delay/reverb modes are selectable(mainly 3) with the mode switch. Again, you get eveything from simple to the more experimental. The Stereo sound of the effects is also amazing. Sturdy enclosure and oh,did I mention .......THE PRICE FOR ALL OF THIS!!??? it is truly incredible!!!! and magical!!!!
Also there is a clever design thinking behind the pot-caps: because they are using nice,high quality pots in their pedals, and they have a nice,smooth and satisfying rolling resistance to them, -which is by the way very good,- but that would be more comfortable and practical to use with wider,bigger caps, but because the pots are so closely put next to one-another, and the enclosure has size limitations, they couldn't put the appropiate size caps on it. This is obviously a compromise due to the compact overall design of the pedal. But! : they nicely compensated this problem with caps that both fit next to one-another, and also have a nice wedge-kinda groove in the middle of the them, making it easy to turn by using the tip of your fingers instead of grabbing them with two. A white dot also makes it easier in a performance scenario to indentify where the knobs exactly are, while also giving a very alternative look to the pedal. Bravo Flamma! This is the first reverb and/or delay pedal I've bought in a very long time, so I don't have much to compare it against. Keep that in mind. However, for me it works wonderfully.

Combining Reverb with Delay is a great idea. In my field - ambient guitar - it is very common to use these effects together. So to me it made sense to buy a pedal that combines them both.

You can achieve lots of different sound combinations with this pedal. It has all the knobs you expect from a complex pedal lke this: tone, time, tempo, level etc. There's lots for you to experiment with. To me the sound is great, there's no unwanted noise or hum.

It has stereo input and output, ... as well as mono of-course. It's a good pedal to use at the end of your pedalboard if you want to record in stereo.

The right footswitch is the on/off or bypass for the pedal, the left footswitch is for setting the tempo; the delay time of the delay effect.

The tap in the middle gives you three different delay+reverb combo effect types:
1 = reverse delay + slow attack reverb (good for swells)
2 = analog real echo + modulated reverb (i.e. the "normal" setting)
3 = analog delay + shimmer reverb (for some bling)

The main challenge with this pedal is learning how to use it. The manual only shows what the knobs are for. There's comparatively little coverage of this pedal on the web. It doesn't help that different manufacturers use different terms for things. I mainly used experimentation + youtube videos to learn how to use this pedal. You get the hang of it eventually.

In summary, to me it's a great pedal. I couldn't find anything wrong with it, things to complain about. As an ambient guitarist it gives me a tonne of settings to play around with. And the quality feels very solid. Plus it looks great.

I’ve bought a few delay and reverb pedals, but there is something special about this. There are 3 different types of Reverb and Delay pairs to choose from which sounds limited, but the way each interacts with each other and your own playing dynamics is really impressive. It also responds well to other pedals in your chain, either in front of or after this pedal. The build quality is also great, the only downside is the lack of a battery powered option, but this is common with lots of other pedals.
