Fender Player Series Tele MN BTB LH

The guitar came with a good setup :
-The relief was almost spot on, the nut is good enough for me not to touch it. All I did was to lower the bridge string height a little.
-The fretwork is very nice for a Mexican. Maybe this finish has had more care than others ? I did get a Strat player and had to go through a couple before getting one with ok frets... (not sharp)
There's an odd black line on the side which doesn't belong to the wood grain but other than that it looks nice.

Biggest complaint common to ALL Left Mexican Fenders (strat and tele at least) are the pots wiring... why do they mirror the right hand diagram is beyond me... Would it be anti log pots it would've worked but here it just doesn't. You have an on/off volume/tone control because of this until you rewire the pots. Such an obvious error always baffles me.

The pickups are nice and very crisp the cover I think is nickel and not brass like previous MIM, a nice improvement. They are hotter than my Strat player. Fairly light too.

Overall a good guitar, I'm pleased with it but I shouldn't have to rewire the pots for them to be of any use other than on/off.

Ps: On the Strat it had a nice big red 223j tone capacitor, here on the tele is one of those tiny orange button you can find in toys... shouldn't change anything on the sound quality but It's a little disappointing discovery when the tele and the strat are the same price for a much simpler instrument...

Jetzt hier was über das Für und Wieder Telecaster zu schreiben, spar ich mir.
Also fang ich gleich mit der Verarbeitung an. Hier muss ich feststellen, für eine Linkshänder ist das Teil prima verarbeitet und gut eingestellt. Mit der Player Serie hat Fender tatsächlich bei der Mexicos zugelegt. Ich konnte mal eine der Vorgänger Serie aus Mexico antesten, die hatte in Sachen Verarbeitung schon einige Defizite.
Die Player Tele ist out off the Box spielbar, der Hals ist sehr spärlich lackiert und richtig griffig. Die Saitenlage ist spielbar eingestellt, die Intonation hat gepasst.
Dir Pickups klingen gut, was letztendlich aber Geschmacksache ist. Auch das Eigenrauschen hält sich bis zur einer gewissen Lautstärke in Grenzen.
Die Lackierung ist fast fehlerfrei. Auf der Rückseite meiner Tele ist ein winzig kleiner Lackfehler. So what.
Allerdings ist die Gitarre im ganzen etwas Dunkler als auf den Website Bildern.
Die Mechaniken sind stimmstabil, mittlerweile hab ich aber Fender Locking Tuner verbaut (Problemloser Umbau in15 min.).
Das einzige Ärgernis ist die Kappe vom Schalter. Hier sollte man sich tatsächlich Ersatzkappen besorgen. Mittlerweile sichere ich sie mit einen Tropfen Sekundenkleber. Eine zeitlang hält das dann.
Die Potis laufen sahnig und kratzfrei. Der Regelweg beim Ton ist halt typisch Fender. 80% passiert nix.

Wer mit dem Manko einer MEXICO leben kann, kann die Player bedenkenlos kaufen. "Günstiger" kommt man nicht an ein "Original". Aus meiner Sicht würde ich auch nicht mehr ausgeben.

Prise en main qui fait un peu cheap mais en fait, je dois avouer que le manche est très confortable.... En revanche, finition des frets et angle de la touche bof bof.. Son assez caractéristique de la Télé mais un twang pas éxagéré. Légère et bien équilibrée. Globalement, une bonne télé... En revanche, on est quand même dans du moyen de gamme à 650 €, les mécaniques sont vraiment pas terrible. Je mets un bémol, je ne l'ai jouée que sur une seule répet aujourd'hui, avec les cordes Fender d'origine, et j'ai passé pas mal de temps à me réacorder. Elle va donc recevoir un jeu de Fender autobloquantes, ce qui rajoute 77 € à la guitare... Donc globalement, ca sonne pas mal du tout, c'est confortable, c'est léger mais faut réacorder très souvent...

Edit un peu moins d'un an après. C'est finalement une très bonne guitare. Je m'en sers en spare pour la scène, mais je dois dire que je la joue quand même assez souvent parce qu'elle est extrêmement confortable. Et qu'elle sonne... J'ai donc changé les mécaniques pour des fender autoblocantes, et elle tient finalement très bien l'accord. C'est la première guitare, en plusieurs décennies, où je n'ai pas touché aux micros.... Je pense qq fois mettre un double au chevalet, mais en fait, ca sonne déjà très très bien... J'ai souvent entendu qu'une Squier CV 50 était aussi bien voire mieux qu'une télé mex, et à mon sens, ce n'est pas vrai du tout. Et si comme moi, vous jouez beaucoup, concerts, repets, studio, la CV 50 est quand même extrêmement lourde... Trop...
